Guillaume Stapylton-Smith trained at the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris, and the studio publishes something almost nobody else will: a minimum spend of £5,000 for bespoke pieces.

That single sentence does more for a nervous buyer than any amount of warm copy. The commonest anxiety in commissioning is discovering, after two meetings and a growing sense of obligation, that you were never in the right bracket. Being told up front is a kindness, and it is rare enough to be worth choosing them for.

Alongside the bespoke work is a genuine antique arm, with stock published from around £1,150 for an Edwardian five-stone opal to £4,160 for a Belle Époque pearl and diamond necklace. The aesthetic leans Renaissance: oversized claws, intricate settings, tension settings.

From the initial consultation through gemstone selection you have access to every part of the process. Designs are worked up in gouache and drawings before going to master jewellers, and everything is handcrafted in Hatton Garden.

Lead time is six to eight weeks, published. They advise against booking a major event before the piece has arrived, which is sensible and honest, and they commit to keeping you updated on progress.

Heirloom material is accepted: they will reset stones, add new ones and try different pairings. They state they work exclusively with ethically sourced natural diamonds and gemstones, so lab-grown is not on offer here.
