Three Generations, and a Serious Coloured Stone Range
Founded in 1986 by brothers Paul and Sean, following their father into the trade, with Paul starting his apprenticeship at sixteen in 1982. Three generations of the same family have now worked in Hatton Garden, and the business operates from a suite inside 100 Hatton Garden rather than a street-level shop.
What distinguishes them is the coloured stone work. They run dedicated collections for sapphire, emerald, ruby and yellow diamond, which is a materially deeper range than most bespoke houses of this size bother with. Coloured stones are harder to buy well than diamonds, because there is far less certification to lean on and much more depends on the eye of the person sourcing.
Their one pricing claim is comparative rather than numerical: pieces up to 50 per cent more affordable than big-name houses, on the argument that you are paying for the work rather than the branding. No actual figures are published, which is the main gap.
Coloured stones are where a jeweller’s eye actually shows. There is no certificate that tells you a sapphire is beautiful.
London Engagement RingsBy Appointment, and Only by Appointment
They are explicit that they work by appointment only, so the design conversation gets proper attention. Booking is through their site or by WhatsApp. Being a suite inside the building rather than a shopfront, there is nothing to walk past and no window to browse.
The work combines traditional handcraft with CAD. Diamonds are GIA certified, and there is a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, complimentary worldwide shipping and complimentary resizing, which together are a stronger aftercare package than most independents offer.
They publish neither prices nor production timescales, so both need establishing at the first appointment. Lab-grown is available alongside natural, with a clearly separated range.
513 Reviews and an Unusual Distribution
The shape here is odd in a way worth noting: 508 five star, five at one star, and literally nothing in between. No fours, no threes, no twos. That pattern usually means people either have an excellent experience or a genuinely bad one, with very little middle ground.
The praise is heavily weighted toward what happens after the sale. Eighty-five reviewers mention aftercare and resizing, which is the highest proportion of any jeweller we counted and consistent with the lifetime warranty and free resizing. Seventy-two describe the bespoke process and 42 mention depth of knowledge. Twenty-three specifically mention value, which supports their pricing argument.
Of the five critical reviews there is no shared pattern: one concerns aftercare on a long-standing customer relationship, one a delay, and one an unwelcoming reception. They reply to 74 per cent of reviews, which is high and means you can see how complaints were handled. One caveat on currency: only 62 of the 513 reviews are from the past year, so much of this record was built earlier.
Review figures taken from Google and checked in July 2026. We recount them monthly.
The Right Buyer for Hyde Park Design
This suits a buyer who wants a coloured centre stone and wants it chosen by someone who does it often. A sapphire or emerald from a jeweller with a dedicated collection is a materially different proposition from one sourced on request by a diamond specialist.
It also suits anyone who expects to come back. The aftercare package is genuinely strong and 85 reviewers mention using it, which is the best evidence you can have that it is real.
It will not suit you if you want to browse, if you need a published price before booking, or if you want a firm delivery date at the outset, since neither prices nor timescales are published anywhere.
A three-generation family atelier with the deepest coloured-stone range of any independent here, and the strongest aftercare record we counted. Appointment only, no published prices, and a review record built more in the past decade than the past year.
