About

One Goldsmith, No Handoff

D G Bespoke Jewellery is Daniel, a second-generation goldsmith who served a five-year apprenticeship under his father Michael, a respected London master goldsmith, and now has more than 25 years at the bench. The workshop is Unit 316 on the third floor of The Record Hall on Baldwin’s Gardens, and every piece is designed and handcrafted by Daniel himself, from first consultation to final polish.

Google shows 238 reviews. We analysed 238: 237 are five star and one sits at one star, across nearly a decade. He replies to every single review, the only 100 per cent reply rate at this rank.

His own listing puts it plainly: no retail overheads, no hard selling or pressure. Commissions cover natural and lab-grown stones, and the recent work on the site runs from a three-carat lab-grown marquise to sapphire deco rings.

Every piece made by the same hands that answer every review: 237 of 238 analysed reviews at five star.

What reviewers say
238Reviews analysed
237Five star
10Years of reviews

This is the most bespoke-dominated record of any jeweller we rank at this level: 87 of the analysed reviews describe the bespoke and design process. Twenty-nine mention depth of knowledge, seventeen say the partner loves the ring, and eight describe being guided through as a nervous first-timer, which earns a place on our First-Time Buyers list.

One review sits below four stars in nearly ten years, and every review has a reply. Five arrived in the past twelve months, the pace of a one-man workshop rather than a sales floor.

For scale: that record sits in the top 20 per cent of the 311 for review volume, and the top 25 per cent for the share of reviews at four stars or better. In plain terms, you should be in safe hands here.

Being a total novice at all things platinum and diamonds I had spent a few days wondering around Hatton Garden getting a feel for the place and asking questions in the various shops and arcades. I found the experience slightly overwhelming. Luckily a colleague recommended Daniel at DG Jewellery and so I contacted him.”
Paul Howie · November 2017 · On Google
After 4 unsuccessful visits to just about every jeweller in Hatton Garden, we found Daniel. Nestled in a modest workshop in the centre, DG Bespoke Jewellery really is a hidden Gem! Daniel patiently sat with us, answering all our questions and concerns, allowing us to specify exactly what we imagined.”

Who this suits

The Right Buyer for D G Bespoke Jewellery

This suits a buyer who wants one craftsman accountable for everything: the design, the making and the aftercare, with no handoff between departments because there are no departments. The first-timer theme in the reviews says the guidance is real.

It also suits a buyer allergic to sales pressure; the no-pressure line is the house style and the reviews echo it. Less suited to anyone who wants a same-day ring or a large ready-made selection. Book ahead: the workshop opens early, from 8am Monday to Saturday.
